Google Play Gets a New Look

Google launched a new look for Google Play Tuesday. Rolling out now to Android phones and tablets, the redesigned storefront has a cleaner look, making it easier to find what you’re looking for.

Most notably, the redesign replaces the dark-toned theme of the store with a new, brighter version. Similar content is bundled together on the screen, and as you scroll down on a page additional recommendations will continue to appear.

Purchasing also saw an update in the new version of the store, ultimately making the process much simpler.

Google Play officially launched in March of last year, replacing its "Android Market." A change more in name than functionality, the move was made in order to make customers more aware of Google’s non-app offerings such as books and movies. Tuesday’s update builds on that goal, making it easier to discover different types of content within the store.

The redesigned Google Play starts rolling out to Android users running Android 2.2 and above starting Tuesday, and should reach all of those devices in the next few weeks.
