Google is launching native tablet apps for Google+, the tech giant announced during the kickoff to Google I/O, its developer conference in San Francisco, Wednesday.

The app will be made available for Android tablets beginning later Wednesday, Vivek "Vic" Gundotra, Google's SVP of engineering, said. A version for iPads is "coming soon."

He shared the preview screenshots (above and below) on stage:

To accompany the announcement, Gundotra disclosed that 150 million people use Google+ on a monthly basis, half of whom log in daily. They spend 12 minutes per day in the stream (a.k.a. newsfeed) on average. He added that more users are engaging from mobile than desktop devices.
