Google+ Now Lets You Create Memes [PICS]

The feature, announced by Colin McMillen, a senior software engineer, is fairly straightforward: To create a meme, all you have to do is grab a photo, drop it into your "Share" box, and then add your own text. The finished product is your image with a nice, meme-y-looking text overlay.

McMillen provided five examples, including a Revolutionary War-era town crier, a dog, a bear, two birds and a fish. (See gallery, below.)

The feature was no doubt designed to not only increase engagement on Google+, but also possibly to help inject some levity into a platform that has so far attracted hardcore techies and engineering types.
