Google took extra steps this week to solidify Google+ as the social media platform that everyone will be using, even if they don't want to.

Gmail users fumed at the announcement this week that users of Google+ can now e-mail anyone in their circles, even without having their actual address. Over at YouTube, users are still having to opt out of their comments being broadcast all over the social network.

And now that Google has acquired Nest, a smart thermostat, will I soon need to sign in to Google+ to adjust the temperature in my own house?
