Google+ touts its community of musicians and their fans for sparking the change.
"There is a growing trend that we are seeing on Google+ and how it might be an extension of the YouTube phenomenon, where we have real musicians finding opportunities of a lifetime similar to what YouTube has done for lots of the famous artists of our generation," says Google spokeswoman Iska Hain.
Several musicians including Suite 709 and Daria Musk, for example, have built global fan bases in the thousands and millions by doing live concerts on Google+.
