Sometimes there's an advantage to calling something "experimental".
Google Social Search, the much heralded new way to combine Google results with data from your social networks, went down today, we reported earlier.
Now Google has responded to our inquiry, explaining that the service will be inaccessible until Monday or Tuesday. No reason has been given for the downtime. Google wrote to Mashable via email:
The Google Social Search experiment is temporarily down. We are working on it and expect to restore access sometime Monday or Tuesday
What could possibly befall the search experiment such that it takes days to get it back online?
