If you thought some app remakes and a couple of easter eggs were all Google is planning for its Star Wars onslaught, you were wrong.

According to an announcement on the official Star Wars site, Google will launch a Star Wars virtual reality experience for Google Cardboard, the company's low-cost VR platform.

The experience, which launches on Dec. 2 as part of the official Star Wars app, "ties directly into the opening" of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is scheduled to hit cinemas Dec. 17.

The Star Wars app is available for iOS and Android.

For those that want to be fully immersed in the Star Wars universe while viewing Star Wars content on Cardboard, Verizon Stores will have four custom Google Cardboard viewer designs adorned with Star Wars imagery starting Dec. 2.

Google's sudden adoration for Star Wars is part of a collaboration with Disney and Verizon. On Monday, the company launched a mini-site which lets users choose between the light and the dark side and get "Star Wars"-themed versions of popular Google apps and services.
