Google has made quite a bit of progress with its StreetView initiative. The company has mapped out numerous cities around the US so far, and it’s expanding its reach on a continual basis. But cameravan’s lenses are usually only focused on the stuff that can be viewed at or near eye level. Which can be a bit stale, particularly around areas of architectural significance. So Google’s decided to do some second runs, as it were.

Most recently, the company has published the results of its revisit to the Big Apple, where landmarks like Times Square, the New Museum, Trump Tower, and the Washington Square arch can be seen bottom to top, just as the average pedestrian would be able when standing at such locations. Which is cool, right? Now you truly don’t have to leave home or the office to get your fill of popular sights stationed in Manhattan. Google has done the hard work for you.

Of course, Google isn’t really done until it manages to get some ambiance loops to match these new features - some car horns, some profanities courtesy of disgruntled passersby. You know, the usual. That kind of garnish could really send these features home, don’t you think?
