Google just dropped an all-new widget for its personalized homepage: the Google Talk Gadget.
In the past, Google users have been able to chat through the Google Talk desktop app and the pop-up chat in Gmail. Now, however, you can use the tabbed chat widget to IM people in your contact list. They've also included photo and video previews in the widget itself (from Picasa and YouTube respectively).
What's more, thanks to the portability of Google Gadgets, you can embed the widget into a webpage or blog (last time we checked, gadgets don't work on MySpace). Could this be a MeeboMe rival? Possibly not, but it'll likely be popular with Google homepage users, since it offers more utility than the other Google Talk apps.
