Can Google Help You Guess Mitt Romney's Vice Presidential Pick?

Wondering who Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney will choose as his running mate sometime in the next few weeks? Google might be able to help you out -- or at least show you which candidates are getting the most search requests and online buzz.

Google's "Veepstakes Trends Dashboard," embedded below, tracks digital buzz around a handful of potential vice presidential picks by monitoring Google search trends, Google News mentions and YouTube views from the potential candidates' accounts.

The dashboard lets users check out the online popularity of 10 candidates over the past year. The platform also allows users to see which vice presidential possibility has been searched the most over the last day, week or month.

The dashboard is a partnership between Google and the Washington Post's Chris Cillizza, known throughout the political web for writing The Fix, a popular daily blog on the Post's website. It's the latest from Google's Politics and Elections site, which monitors political trends on the web and posts election results on Google Maps-based maps.
