Under the agreement, video clips from the Korean version of YouTube will show up on Yahoo Korea's map; also, Yahoo will connect its local search service Gugi with Google Korea's map.

If you're trying to figure why these two big rivals have decided to partner up on the Korean market, it's easy: they're both weak. According to the Korea Times, the Korean search market is dominated by Naver, which holds around 75% of it, while Google and Yahoo are struggling to get some leftovers.

As always, when times are tough, it's nicer and warmer if you stick together. We just might see more examples like this if the recession sticks around for a longer period or even deepens.
