Google’s non-profit arm, Google.org, has announced a $10 million commitment to investing in companies and entrepreneurs focused on sustainable transportation, such as hybrid vehicles. The goal of the funding is to “help accelerate mass commercialization of plug-in vehicles” according to the company.
Google.org has already granted more than $1 million to non-profits that are trying to address global warming issues, but this funding is designed specifically to spur innovation in the private sector. According to the company, they are looking to make individual investments in the $500,000-$2,000,000 range.
