What’s interesting is that the outages are only impacting certain people (and not me). The reason for this, as it turns out, might be AT&T. ZDNet is reporting that any traffic that is routed through AT&T was not able to get to Google, while some of our own staffers with AT&T mobile service also reported problems this morning.
At the moment, it appears that the issues have been mostly resolved, though we’re yet to hear official word from Google or AT&T. We’ll update when we do.
Meanwhile, please leave your own experiences with #googlefail – if you’ve been experiencing it - in the comments.
Updates: Google explains the outage in a blog post, writing "An error in one of our systems caused us to direct some of our web traffic through Asia, which created a traffic jam. As a result, about 14% of our users experienced slow services or even interruptions."
