Fox has released the first trailer for the upcoming TV series Gotham, showing us a young Bruce Wayne, before his transformation into Batman. The trailer also features a host of well-known villains before their "prime," including The Penguin and Poison Ivy.

Ben McKenzie (The O.C., Southland) stars as a young commissioner Gordon, and in the clip, we see him solace Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) after the murder of his parents. The trailer sets a grim tone, with Gotham City falling prey to criminals while Gordon struggles to resolve the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) also makes an appearance, as does The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith). Robin Lord Taylor plays Penguin, Clare Foley is Poison Ivy, and Jada Pinkett Smith plays a new villain, a nightclub owner called Fish Mooney.

The series, which will feature at least 13 episodes, is scheduled to premiere in the fall.
