Camp Takota fans, rejoice!
Lionsgate, the studio behind the Hunger Games franchise, announced Wednesday that it has acquired Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart and Mamrie Hart's next digital film, Dirty Thirty.
The news comes over a year after the successful release of Camp Takota in February 2014. George Strompolos, CEO of digital media company Fullscreen, said last year that the film had sold "hundreds of thousands of copies."
Dirty Thirty, which Helbig, Hart and Hart will executive produce and star in, is a comedy about "a birthday party that goes off the rails." The trio collectively have more than 6 million followers on their YouTube channels.
“As we build out our original digital offerings, we continue to look for projects that fit Lionsgate’s brand as a leader in supplying the next generation of global content and Dirty Thirty perfectly fits that mandate,” Lionsgate Digital’s Jordan Gilbert said in a statement. “Grace, Mamrie, Hannah and the entire team have proven that they understand the digital audience and we are excited to be working with them on this long-form digital feature.”
The movie is the latest in a slew of recent and upcoming digital releases starring the Internet's biggest names.
Earlier this year, longtime YouTube duo Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox, known as Smosh, debuted their film Smosh: The Movie.
Lionsgate had originally acquired distribution rights for the film -- but eventually Defy Media, a digital media company which has investors such as Viacom and Lionsgate, opted to give it a multi-platform release instead of putting it in limited theaters.
Lionsgate plans to distribute Dirty Thirty on multiple digital platforms, including subscription VOD services.
As pre-production of the film begins this week, fans can follow the YouTubers' updates at DirtyThirtyMovie.com.
