LONDON -- It's been a good week for Ed Sheeran. Today he turns 25 and he got to share his Grammy win with his parents, or at least he thought he did.
The British man who won song of the year and best solo pop performance for "Thinking Out Loud" thanked his parents for their support over the years.
However, as Sheeran mentioned his parents, the Grammys broadcast flashed the camera at two people who looked very proud of the 25-year-old.
That awkward moment when Ed Sheeran thanks his parents and it cuts to two strangers #Grammys https://t.co/qqAIK1yAgD— Tahira Mirza (@tahiramirza1) February 16, 2016
The special moment was immediately interrupted when Twitter users pointed out that the people the Grammys labeled as his parents were not actually his parents.
Why are me&mum the only ones who have noticed that they have shown ed's wrong parents. #Grammys2016 @edsheeran pic.twitter.com/yDXFxgHEV5— Ellie (@Ellie_aldred) February 16, 2016
My favorite part of @edsheeran's Grammy acceptance speech was the really proud looking older couple they showed that were not Ed's parents.— Anna Madden (@annakmadden) February 16, 2016
I'm like 99% sure the couple they showed in the audience were not Ed Sheeran's parents and I'm still laughing about it— Brooke Curry (@BrookeCurry) February 16, 2016
Here's Sheeran pictured with his real mum.

She looks nothing like his Grammy mum, but even so, they were smiling in full support of Sheeran's win.
