LOS ANGELES -- The Recording Academy shattered a major tradition this year, allowing famed music photographer Danny Clinch's annual Grammy winners' portraits to be shared with the public for the first time -- via Instagram.

Until Sunday night, Clinch's intimate backstage Grammys photos were only printed and mailed to the winners as keepsakes for their musical achievements for more than a decade.

This year, the academy is taking the veil off of their some of those images. The Hollywood Foreign Press also used Instagram for stunning Golden Globe portraits.
