There's a new blog network that has been playing at the edges of the my feed reading periphery for a few weeks now that goes by the name of Grand Effect. Today they announced the induction of two new bloggers that you've probably heard us quote before here at Mashable, Frederic of The Last Podcast and MG Siegler of ParisLemon (both of whom were present as panelists on the first episode of the L33t Tech News podcast).

They've been swallowing up a number of my favorite bloggers at an alarming rate, so I figured I had better pay a bit of attention to them. I did a bit of poking around their website today and reached out to the members I wasn't already acquainted with by email to get a bit more information as to what they were up to.

Sarah Perez, author of the blog SarahInTampa as well as contributor to ReadWriteWeb, is also one of the founding members of the Grand Effect network.

"I initially began working on a tech blog network with another blogger, but he couldn't keep up with the demands of blogging in addition to grad school and a new baby, so I went looking for new bloggers," she told me. "When I commented on xfep.com, David Peralty got in touch and we've been working together on building up this little network ever since."

She and the bloggers of the network aren't trying to create the next conglomorate designed roll up the blogosphere and compete with CNet, by any means. Their plan is to remain small and tech-focused and of high-quality, and generally free of restrictions upon the members of the blogging team."

"Our bloggers only need run the network bar, and, of course, any ads we run in the future," said Perez.
