Australian tourist captures video of Greek beach turning into dust

An earthquake which destroyed one of the world's most beautiful beaches on the Greek island of Lefkáda was captured in a dramatic video by Australian tourist Thomas Verykios.

The earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of at least 6.1 hit the island on Nov. 17, which is located approximately 630 km northwest of Athens.

Verykios was fishing on his boat at 9:10 a.m. local time, when he felt the earthquake hit "under my boat," according to the description on the Facebook video he uploaded. Two were reported dead, with landslides, plus damage to roads and buildings according to authorities.

The Pappas Post has also documented images of the beach before and after the earthquake, showing the extent of damage to the holiday destination.
