Good hot chocolate is made with real chocolate and whole milk.

Great hot chocolate is made once you add a little something stronger to the mix.

Heat whole milk (three cups of milk per one cup of chocolate chips) until scalding or simmering with tiny bubbles. Pour over high quality chocolate chips or chopped chocolate and whisk vigorously until the chocolate is entirely melted.

This is where things get fun.

Add a shot of amaretto for a nutty, boozy kick.

Top with a marshmallow, whipped cream, or another shot of liquor if your family is already getting on your nerves.
