Half-Life 2 Now Officially Supports the Oculus Rift

Valve has updated its Half-Life 2 shooter with the support for virtual reality head-mounted display Oculus Rift.

The feature is experimental, and is available in the game's beta version.

It has some known issues, Paragon reports, such as problems with the zoomed-in UI and a hard-to-read HUD, but if you're up for destroying zombies in a virtual reality setting, it's still probably your best bet.

Half-Life 2 joins the growing list of games that have been optimized for the Oculus Rift, including Adhesive Games' Hawken and Valve's Team Fortress 2. The virtual reality HMD is currently available only as a developer kit, with the consumer version being planned for 2014.
