Before #TheDress, there was #TheCoat -- specifically, the Star Wars coat.
In the Empire Strikes Back, Han Solo spends his time the freezing planet Hoth wearing a toasty-warm jacket that had fans scratching their heads for years. Whether it was the light or the material, no one seemed to agree whether the coat was brown or navy blue.
And they still can't -- even though the debate has been settled for a while.
Han Solo's coat is blue. And he shot first.— Dex Smither (@FTWDex) April 9, 2015
Han solo's coat is still blue on Hoth tho idgaf what you think— krisdfa (@krisdfa) February 27, 2015
My God, Han Solo's Hoth parka really is brown. I don't know what to believe anymore.— jedi.derf (@derf_vader) April 9, 2015
The coat was featured in the Star Wars Costumes book, which was released in October 2014. As you can see, it's clearly brown.
And if you don't believe that, here's some bonus footage from the Star Wars digital downloads released Friday; this particular clip was obtained by entertainment news website Collider. It shows the costume team and author J.W. Rinzler looking at the coat -- which is a nice, rich brown.

If we aren't going to believe the people who are in charge of the clothes, who can we believe in this crazy universe?
Debate settled, nerds. Now let's stop arguing about clothing colors and argue about something a little more productive from the Star Wars universe -- such as whether Han shot first.
FYI, he did.
