Fast-forward to 2015 and Facebook is doing a great job of reminding you of your "friends'" birthdays. Actually the social media goliath is doing too good of a job because unless you opt-out, users are greeted every morning with a notification, warning you not to forget your "friends'" birthdays.

Although convenient, the feature has successfully diminished the value of a "Happy Birthday" into a meaningless notification from people you barely even know.
