Famed actor, film writer and director Harold Ramis died Monday at the age of 69. Ramis passed away in his Chicago home due to complications from autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, his agency confirmed to Mashable.

Ramis is best remembered for penning the '80s hit Ghostbusters, where he starred as Dr. Egon Spengler. He first broke into the industry when he wrote the 1978 cult classic National Lampoon's Animal House, and from there, went on to direct Caddyshack. In recent years, Ramis directed episodes of NBC's The Office, and for some time, rumors circulated that he would return in some capacity for a Ghostbusters reboot.

Ramis' health issues began in 2010, and became so sever that he had to relearn to walk. He suffered a relapse of vasculitis in 2011.

"His creativity, compassion, intelligence, humor and spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him," read a press release from his agency.

We've compiled moments from some of Ramis' most beloved films, below.
