There's devotion to a TV show, and then there's getting its images permanently inked on your body.
Thanks to an HBO promotion, and the artists from San Diego tattoo shop Left Hand Black, Game of Thrones fans were able to get tattooed for free -- presuming they queued up for hours at a little-known location just outside Comic-Con last month.
HBO has shared the final results with Mashable: it turns out 111 fans bent the knee (and elbow, and ankle, and wherever else they wanted to be inked.)
First of all came the difficult choice of what tattoo to get. HBO offered 12 options, including the in-show slogan "valar morghulis" (all men must die) and its traditional response "valar dohaeris" (all men must serve). We've no idea who would want to get the latter, unless you're interested in showing your boss that you're really a team player.
Then came time to move on to the tattoo station. You could either throw a heavy metal sign to show how little the needle bothers you:
Or you could simply chill out on your smartphone while getting a triple-headed Targaryen crest etched on your wrist, like a boss.
Although if you're getting a three-eyed crow on the back of your shoulder, probably best to just relax and go into the Godswood in your mind.
The results? Check them out for yourself. Here's a House Baratheon crest:
The Stark family crest seems to have turned this fan's skin the color of the Red Wedding. We're not sure if that's a bug or a feature:
Where else to get the Hand of the King symbol but on your ... inner arm?
We've got to admit, the "valar morghulis" looks pretty badass:
But "valar dohaeris" matched with a pair of cherries? We're not sure what the message is here.
