Len Kendall, director of digital at public relations firm Golin Harris, has used his Pinterest presence to protest the proposed measure with a "Stop SOPA" board. The board, as you might expect, features nothing but black spaces.
Kendall, who tweeted about his DIY protest Wednesday morning, says he hasn't seen anyone else starting a blackout board on Pinterest, though he has seen other people repin it. Kendall says he chose Pinterest because the site seems especially vulnerable to SOPA, which attempts to stop Internet piracy by going after sites that house links to pirated content. "I'm surprised that Pinterest didn't do anything [to protest SOPA] since they have no control over what's posted on their site," Kendall says.
Reps from Pinterest could not be reached for comment. The site has hasn't addressed SOPA on its official blog.
