PASADENA, California -- The Heroes universe will come to a close -- probably for good -- with the upcoming finale of Heroes Reborn.

NBC president Robert Greenblatt confirmed Wednesday that the network has no plans for a second installment of the miniseries.

"I think that was always the plan, unless [creator] Tim [Kring] woke up one day and said, 'I have another chapter to tell,'" said Greenblatt. "But I think we're coming to the end of the world. Stay tuned."

Kring, of course, has previously said that he feels there's room for another season of Reborn, telling TV reporters last summer. "I think I feel confident that we can find other stories to tell, with the new characters and some recurring characters."

According to Greenblatt, though, "He didn't say that to me, so I haven't heard that. But as far as I know, there's no more incarnations of Heroes coming."

The move, of course, should be no surprise. The show's Jan. 7 installment -- its first following a seven-week break -- only pulled in a 1.0 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.
