Female scientists brought their scaly, science-y pride to social media Friday.

The hashtag #HERpers gained speed on Twitter Feb. 26. It showcased women who frequently study and play with reptiles for their job.

As part of a social effort to spotlight the the work of females working in the field of herpetology (the study of amphibians and reptiles), the tweets tagged with #HERper also included photos straight from the field.

Some of the scientists toted small amphibians, like toads and lizards, while others casually shared photos of themselves literally hanging with snakes.
