Well at least that's the idea behind the very fresh Y Combinator startup, Heyzap, that makes it debut today. Heyzap, which aggregates games from major portals, game developers, and Mochi Media, strives to be the casual game platform of choice for publishers, developers, and gamers alike.

Publishers can choose from two types of embed code to embed players on their blogs or website, and the blog player conveniently expands to a full size view, ensuring that your site visitors stay put and stay playing.

Game developers looking to make a few extra bucks can add their machinations to the Heyzap repository for distribution across the Web. In addition to rev-share from pre-roll video adds, developers also get a handy dashboard for tracking game usage.

At least in my case, Heyzap delivers on its promise to provide addictive games. I was immediately sucked into Bloons — a game that forces you to get really clever with your geometry skills, as the levels get harder, in order to pop the required number of balloons — and found myself no closer to satisfying my need to master each level after over 45 minutes of play. Thankfully, I was doing mandatory research for this post; well at least that's the excuse I'm sticking with.

With over 4,000 games to choose from, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's wasting time immersed in game play. Just for the fun of it, why not try your hand at Bloons? I dare you to beat my high score — double dog dare you:

var heyzap = new Heyzap('heyzap_games', {"game": "bloons"}); heyzap.render();
