High School Football Trick Play Sparks Sportsmanship Debate

On video, it's a trick sports play for the ages. During the middle of a high school football game, one team's quarterback takes a snap only to turn and trot casually toward the sideline. "Wrong ball!" he shouts at the ref as other players look on passively. Then the quarterback sprints for the end zone, unmolested by stupefied defenders.

The clip above has become a viral hit on YouTube, with more than 1.5 million views since Friday. But it's also ignited some debate.

The video comes from a JV football game and stars El Camino Real High from California. While many have celebrated the novel play call, other commenters on YouTube and elsewhere have called it cheap and uncalled for. Either way, however, it does include one more interesting sidenote: The ballcarrier whose acting fools the defense is a freshman named Jahlil Pinkett -- nephew to Jada and Will Smith.

What do you think: fun play or cheap trick? Give us your take in the comments.
