Now, in addition to searching for affordable and convenient flights through the site's visually stimulating interface, users can also tack on a hotel stay with their package.
According to the Hipmunk blog, here's how the site's hotel search works:
"Hipmunk helps you find the interesting parts of a city and see which hotels are nearby. Our hotel search is built around a big map. We display dots for each place in the city that has a hotel -- and if there are multiple hotels close together, we group them into a single dot so the map doesn't get too cluttered."
Here are some examples of what you might see if you searched for a hotel. As you can see, the site will show you what kind of activities you can expect to find around your hotel.
There's also a clean interface that will let you sort hotels by criteria. Hipmunk pulls in data about hotels based on price, amenities and Yelp reviews. It includes Airbnb offerings in its search results, as well.
The company just released its iPhone app a few days ago, and we're happy to see how rapidly this startup is rolling out valuable and highly requested new features.
