HitchBOT, the hitchhiking robot who started a cross-country trip across the United States on July 17, is experiencing a bit of a slow start.
The tiny robo-drifter, bound for San Francisco, spent its first seven days just kind of taking in the sites in Massachusetts.
HitchBOT began its U.S. journey in Marblehead, Massachusetts and since then has been bouncing around town, becoming a bit of a local. According to its dedicated social accounts, which update its location using a built-in GPS, HitchBOT took in a Red Sox game and even went out to sea.
According to hitchBOT's creators, the slow start is nothing to worry about. The robot had a similarly slow kickoff trekking across Canada, finishing that cross-country hike in 26 days.
Still though, come on hitchBOT, get a move on.
As of this writing, it looks like hitchBOT finally bummed a ride to Rhode Island after a Red Sox game on July 24 and is currently en route to Times Square in New York City.
