LONDON -- Every year thousands of people sleep rough on the streets of the capital, and while the numbers are rising, the homeless are still invisible to many.

Artist Glyn Goodwin has created a series of illustrations based on his interactions with people who are homeless or sleeping rough in the city.

"Sometimes if you take the trouble to look, they will appear. Sometimes, if you take the trouble to talk to them, they will talk back," Goodwin says about London's homeless community. "You discover normal people with problems that have overwhelmed them. Problems that could overwhelm any of us."

The illustrations, created over the course of a month, were drawn on the spot and then completed in Goodwin's studio.
