Is This Homemade 'Lightsaber' the Real Deal?

The Force may be strong with one handheld laser that its creator describes as a "homemade lightsaber."

The laser, which emits a blue light and includes a metal handle, can torch through paper, tape, ping-pong balls, cardboard and wooden splints, among other items. Watch for yourself in the video, above.

"Here my BEAST 3000 mW [milliwatt] laser goes up against a bunch of flammable stuff. Most thing slight instantly when placed in the beam of this laser!" the laser's creator, YouTube user styropyro, says in the video's description. "This is the most powerful handheld laser that I've ever used!"

He adds, "I usually try to refrain from using the term 'lightsaber' when referring to my lasers, but there really isn't much else out there to describe this laser."
