After 75 days of demonstrations that blocked major roadways and attracted international attention, protesters in Hong Kong have been cleared out of their camps.

The pro-democracy protests ran through the main thoroughfare of the city's financial district, drawing tens of thousands of supporters at their peak in September and October, but ultimately fizzled out in recent weeks. Protesters were demanding a free vote in the 2017 elections and the resignation of Hong Kong's top leader, Cy Leung, the Beijing-backed chief executive.

Police cleared out demonstrators and dismantled their camps on Thursday, arresting 200 people who refused to leave the area. The streets are now empty, but protesters have vowed to return, leaving signs reading "We will be back."

Below are images from the height of the massive protests and after they ran their course.
