Hook.tv Epitomizes the Niche Video Network

Hook.tv, a niche video-sharing site for fishing enthusiasts, will announce its launch later this week.

Hook.tv, though niche, offers the makings of a successful video-sharing site. Subscribe to a user's channel, add any content to your own channel, upload your own content, and embed the player to your MySpace, hi5 or Piczo profile. The neat thing about their embed function is the multiple options for the video player's skin theme and color, making it more seamless with your own external content.

Hook.tv provides premium content as well, integrating professional and user-generated content together. As far as niche sites go, Hook.tv has chosen an interesting topic; one that involves both recreation and skill. This model could work for a number of niche sites, such as skateboarding or cooking. The niches just keep getting smaller, but that can only be a good thing for users.

Hook.tv is powered by Dave Networks, creators of the video hosting site Dave.tv. Like many players in this space, it seems that Dave Networks is making its money from licensing its video platform - a wise move at a time when consumer facing video sites are being crushed by the might of YouTube.
