Removing the pit from your avocado shouldn't be the most difficult part of your day.

Carefully cut around the avocado, lengthwise. Twist the halves apart, then strike the pit hard with a cleaver or large, non-serrated knife. Twist and the pit will come off on the knife, leaving you with two perfect avocado halves.

Never fear, The Basic Kitch is here. Simple techniques, step-by-step demos and a little Mashable twist to make sure you're paying attention.

Game of Thrones doesn't get this messy, so there's no reason for you to.

Cut carefully around the length of the avocado.

As Chubby Checker said: "Come on baby, let's do the twist."
