An image of Google's upcoming Nexus 9 tablet, built by HTC, has allegedly popped up online.

Twitter account @Upleaks, which has a track record for getting its hands on products ahead of launch dates, tweeted a picture of what appears to be the next generation Nexus tablet on Monday, as first reported by Android Central.

The news comes as the Nexus 9 recently passed testing by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and features the same model number shown in earlier leaks in the past months. It was slated to come out sometime this month.

While it's uncertain whether or not the product is legitimate, the photo is in line with early rumors about what the Nexus 9 could look like. The device, which appears to be more square than other Android tablets we've seen before, comes with a HTC logo at the bottom of the back casing.

While the previous Nexus tablet is the 7, the latest version will be skipping 8 and landing on 9 likely due to its size (9 inches).

It's also believed that the Nexus 9 could be the first device to get Google's new mobile operating system Android L. Other features include a rear-camera with LED flash, a microUSB port and possible NVIDIA Tegra K1 chip.
