PASADENA, CALIF. -- The Shield, Party Of Five, Dawson’s Creek and a handful of movies are headed to Hulu thanks to a new deal with Sony.

Craig Erwich, Hulu's head of content, announced the multi-year licensing deal at the streaming service's Television Critics Association presentation Saturday morning.

"It’s going to be a big year for Hulu," Erwich told reporters before presenting the new slate of 2016 originals.

The expanded library of Hulu content also includes all episodes of Damages and films from the Sony archives such as Jerry Maguire, Midnight in Paris and My Best Friend's Wedding.

The news comes after a strong year for Hulu. The Santa Monica-based streaming service has become home to a slate of successful originals including The Mindy Project and Casual, which recently received a Golden Globes nomination.

Last year, the company also struck a deal with movie and original programming entertainment service, Epix, bringing releases from Lionsgate, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Paramount to the platform. Hulu also broadened its deal with Viacom.
