The day after areas around the U.S. experienced earthquakes -- that caused little or no damage -- and days before Hurricane Irene is expected to reach the East Coast, Facebook is hosting a live video chat with disaster agencies to discuss the role of social media before, during and after these sorts of events.
The discussion will include representatives from the American Red Cross, NOAA's National Weather Service and the Department of Health and Human Services.
You can join the conversation and pose questions to the speakers on the wall of the Facebook event. It begins at 3 p.m. ET.
