LONDON – Remember a month or two ago when Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart recited Taylor Swift lyrics, and we all thought they'd make the perfect squad? Well, there may be a slight issue with that.
McKellen recently revealed to Gay Star News that he was turfed out of the New York apartment he was staying in after Swift purchased the property, in response to them asking him how it felt to be part of her "squad."
"I’m not," replied McKellen. "When I was living in Peter Jackson’s apartment in New York, Taylor Swift bought it while I was there and I was thrown out before I wanted to leave! That hardly puts me in Taylor Swift’s team, does it?"
Before everyone starts panicking, it's worth noting that McKellen was probably just kidding around when he said this and it doesn't sound as though he's holding any grudges (it's hard to tell from a written interview, of course, but Gay Star News did put the word "laughs" in square brackets before one of his answers, which we'll take as a good sign).
"She bought it, she had every right to," continued McKellen. "I was just lodging there for free! She did ask me to appear with Patrick Stewart at her show in LA, but I had something else to do that night."
