Ice Cream Sandwich Coming to LG and Sony Ericsson Smartphones

Sony Ericsson and LG have announced that the latest version of Android, 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich, will be coming to some of their smartphones in the near future.

LG confirmed via Facebook that ICS will be coming to the following smartphones: Optimus 2X, Optimus Black, Optimus 3D and Optimus LTE.

The exact time schedule for the upgrade will be posted on LG's Facebook page in December. LG is also evaluating whether ICS is compatible with other smartphones in its roster, and vows to make it available on as many smartphones as possible.

Sony Ericsson also wasn't very specific, but the news should still be comforting to Xperia owners. According to Sony Ericsson Italy's Facebook page, Xperia's line will get an upgrade to Android 4.0 sometime in 2012, probably by March.

Other major Android smartphone manufacturers have also recently announced the availability of Ice Cream Sandwich on their devices. HTC devices are getting the upgrade in early 2012, as is Motorola's Droid Razr. Samsung Galaxy S II owners will get the latest version of Android at an unspecified time.
