Straight Outta Compton might be dominating the box office, but its filming wasn't always smooth sailing.

Ice Cube and his son, O'Shea Jackson Jr., sat down for an interview with Noisey to talk about making the N.W.A. biopic, which traces the rise of the rap group from the streets of Compton to the top of the charts. Jackson Jr. plays a young version of his father in the film.

In the interview, Cube reveals one of the toughest scenes for him to watch: the moment Eazy-E got his HIV diagnosis.

"It's just hard, it's rough, it's sad," Cube says. "It's the beginning of the end." Eazy-E ultimately died due to complications from AIDS on March 26, 1995 at the age of 31.

Cube and his son also swap confessions about the rest of the experience, which marked Jackson's first acting role. Cube is in full father mode, letting his son know multiple times how proud he is.

"You did me right," he says.
