BABY MAKING: There’s An App For That!

Last year, we reviewed a site called MakeMeBabies that allows you to combine pictures of you, your friends, or celebrities to see what would happen if you got together and made a baby.

While the site was loads of fun and introduced the world to what me and Kate Beckinsale’s offspring might look like, we figured the novelty would probably wear off quickly. However, the site is apparently alive and well, and now, as they say, “there’s an app for that” too.

Later this week, iHatch comes to iPhone, featuring the same premise and baby-making engine as MakeMeBabies (it has an API) but with a few nice built-in iPhone features. For example, you can use your phone’s camera to take a picture, and then mash it up with another pic in your saved photos, or one of the featured celebrity images. This functionality “could be quite useful at a bar” says the presenter in the demo.

Additionally, you can tweet, share on Facebook, or email your babies from your iPhone as soon as you create them, which should give the application an added viral effect. The app’s developers expect it to be approved by Apple later this week, and it will cost $2.99 in the app store. In the meantime, for a sneak peek, check out the video below:
