This looks pretty sweet, although it may ultimately turn out to be pointless. French startup Iminent wants to combine IM and video, and it just raised €3M ($4M USD) from Italy's 360 Partners to do so. The service, which is in private beta, is an add-on for instant messaging apps that lets you create and send video messages, send EMOvids (video plus emoticons) and rate clips from others.
The demo (video below) looks pretty cool, but getting users to download another add-on for very little additional functionality sounds like a long shot. Take a look at the clip and see what you think.
