Tuxedos Replace Speedos at Improv Everywhere's Black Tie Beach Day

Improv Everywhere made Coney Island beachgoers feel mighty underdressed this weekend with the return of Black Tie Beach Day. The New York-based comedic performance group asked dozens of its so-called agents to hit the thrift stores in search of cheap formal duds and wear the garb to the beach on Saturday.

Tuxedos mingled amongst Speedos as participants donned their finest attire for a day of beach fun. Onlookers didn’t quite know what to make of women in prom dresses building sandcastles and kids in formal suits boogie boarding the waves.

Improv Everywhere filmed the fancy-schmancy beach day, but the video won’t hit the web for a couple weeks. Don’t fret though -- we snapped some shots of the sand and surf shenanigans.

If you want even more Black Tie Beach Day, check out the video from last year’s event for a look at how the whole thing went down.
