For the first time, an all-women contingent of personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force will be performing stunts with their motorcycles during India's Republic Day parade on 26 Jan.

Called "Women Daredevils CRPF", the contigent of 120 women riders will display their skills on the motorcyle. This squad was created in 2014, when women were trained in performing difficult individual and group stunts and manoeuvres on Bullet motocyles. Before that, only male commando units of the defence forces were allowed to undetake such stunts.

This is in keeping with last year's Republic Day, which focused on the theme of women's empowerment. While women have been participating in Republic Day parades, India saw its first march by an all-women contigent comprising of army, navy and air force personnel only in 2015. It was also the first time that a woman officer led the guard of honour to welcome the chief guest, US President Barack Obama.

Here's a video of the women from CRPF performing stunts in 2014.
