Tahj Mowry knows a thing or two about being smart, but the former kid genius discovers that he has some serious competition in the IQ category. In the Season 1 finale of "Innovation Download," PepsiCo and Mashable Studios send Tahj into the burgeoning smart world to take a closer look at the companies and creations that are shaping the space.

Bolstered by a new wave of innovations that leverage cognitive computing, advanced data analysis and user-personalization, even everyday objects are becoming smarter. Homes are turning into command centers, Gatorade bottles into hydration trackers, Wi-Fi networks into calculated bandwidth distributors -- even beverage fountains are turning into data powerhouses.

The story will take you from the sunny skies of Los Angeles to the bustling streets of Austin during SXSW festival where we run into an old friend and show how both large-scale innovators like PepsiCo and lesser-known disrupters are prioritizing the expansion into "thinking" technology.

And with the help of the newly launched DJI Phantom 4 drone -- a self-piloting aircraft -- even our video production got a brain boost, thanks to some artificial intelligence. Check it out above!
