This year’s E3 had more than ever independent games on display. Many of them brought a high level of polish and finesse to their creations, with beautiful art and smart design.

What really caught our eye across the bombastic array of booths was how many creators were pushing the envelope on what video games can do. Whether it’s turning familiar mechanics upside down, or making the most of new technology, these six games were the most innovative indies that we saw in 2015.
