Mashable's Evan Engel traveled to Moscow for a close-up look at the controversial RT news network.

For the past several years, the RT network has sought to establish itself as a mainstream global news provider. But during the crisis in Ukraine, much of RT's coverage has slanted so much toward the Russian point-of-view that some of its own correspondents have publicly denounced the network, and others have even resigned from it.

RT correspondent Liz Wahl resigned in March, shortly after Russia completed its annexation of Ukraine's Crimea region. Months later, Sara Firth left the network over what she said was biased reporting on the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in eastern Ukraine.
